About
The Programme to Promote Francophone Initiatives (VIF) supports initiatives that offer young people aged 14 to 30 opportunities to come together, exchange ideas, get involved and participate in French, in person.
- Funding for large-scale initiatives
The ‘Grants to Organisations’ strand is aimed at:
- to non-profit organisations that have been in continuous legal existence for at least three (3) years as at the date of the application, and which have been carrying out activities since their registration
- and/or band councils
who wish to implement transformative projects with a local, regional, provincial or national scope.
- From $15,000 up to $80,000
The VIF Programme can fund up to 100% of eligible expenditure relating to the implementation of the project.
- Projects run with and for young people
Young people aged between 14 and 30 must be at the heart of the project and play an active role in its design, implementation and evaluation.
- French at the heart of the initiative
Projects must be carried out in French and provide young people with practical opportunities to use, practise and promote the French language.
- An important role for in-person activities
At least 80% of the project’s activities must take place in person in Canada. However, certain elements may be carried out virtually before or after the activities.
- A programme with four objectives:
• Bring TOGETHER young people through activities in French to strengthen their linguistic security and sense of belonging.
• Create EXCHANGES with youth from different linguistic communities to foster cooperation and appreciation of Canada’s official languages.
• Increase SUPPORT for the learning and use of French in daily life, especially for youth whose first language is not French.
• Engager youth participation in civic and social ENGAGEMENT in French.
Please note that all projects must meet Objective 1, which is to “Bring TOGETHER young people through activities in French to strengthen their linguistic security and sense of belonging” as well as one or more of the objectives mentioned above.
- A two-stage process
The application process begins with a letter of intent. Organisations whose projects are shortlisted are then invited to submit a full application.

What is the minimum amount I can apply for under the grant scheme for organisations?
The minimum amount an organisation can apply for is 15000$ and the maximum amount is 80000$.
Is an organisation that has received funding from the VIF Programme this year and/or in previous years eligible to apply for funding?
Yes, an organisation that has already received funding from du Program VIF.
How are projects assessed?
A selection panel comprising five people will assess the various projects personnes va évaluer les différents projets.
Is a project taking place in Quebec eligible for the VIF Programme?
Yes, organisations in Quebec are also eligible. admissibles.
How do I submit my application?
Applications are submitted directly via the Survey platform monkey Apply : https://reseaudialogue.smapply.ca/
Can I submit two applications for the VIF Organisation Grant Scheme?
No, an organisation may submit an application as a lead organisation only once for projects in the 2027–2028 financial year; however, the organisation may be a partner on several projects.
When will I receive a reply to my enquiry?
All organisations that have submitted their applications will receive a response regarding the outcome of their applications as soon as this is available; this may include the response
