Ottawa, March 20, 2025 – On this International Francophonie Day, the Dialogue Network announces that it will be responsible for administering the VIF Program, an initiative funded with $4.2 millions to support French-language youth initiatives across Canada. This program aims to encourage youth engagement, strengthen their sense of belonging, and promote the daily use of French.

Financial Support for Promising Projects

The VIF Program, short for “Valorisation d’initiatives francophones“, will enable youth and organizations to realize French-language initiatives, whether local, provincial, or national.

Program Objectives

The VIF Program aims to:

  • Bringing together young people through activities in French to strengthen their linguistic security and sense of belonging.
  • Creating exchanges with youth from different linguistic communities to foster cooperation and appreciation of Canada’s official languages.
  • Increased support for the learning and use of French in daily life, especially for youth whose first language is not French.
  • Encouraging youth participation in civic and social engagement in French.

Two Funding Streams

The program includes two distinct funding streams to meet the needs of youth:

  • Stream 1 – Support for Organizations: Grants ranging from $20,000 to $80,000 per year to fund larger-scale activities.
  • Stream 2 – Youth Engagement: Micro-grants of $1,000 for youth wishing to carry out a French-language project in their local communities.

How to Apply?

Eligible non-profit organizations will be able to submit their project proposals for Stream 1 starting in the spring. Details for the entire program will soon be available on the Dialogue Network website.
